- Habitat: Some of it’s species occur in temperate regions, while a majority of them
are confined to the tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. Many of them occur on the
ground of tropical rain forests, in humid and shady habitats as well as on damp shady sides of
many hills.

- General Characters:
These are small herbaceous lycopods with erect or creeping shoot
The sporophytic plant body is differentiated into stem, leaves, rhizophore and roots.
The leaves are small and ligutate.
Plants are heterosporous and the sporophylls are grouped in the form of strobili.
