1. 1.Chalina is popularly known as dead mans finger because it is shaped like hand with many fingers.
2. 2.It is also known as Mermaids gloves.
3. 3.The sponge is orange or red,yellowish brown in colour.
4. 4.The surface of the body is flattened consisting of bunches of finger-like branches.
5. 5.Each branch or finger like structure is perforated by several oscula.
6. 6.Canal system is of leucon type.
7. 7.Reproduction is both by sexual and asexual.
8. 8.Asexual reproduction by regeneration and budding,sexual by producing free swimming larva.
9. 9.Chalina is found in deep waters.In shallow waters it is only found when detached from its stalk and washed ashore.
