  1. 1. Chelone is a marine form commonly called green turtle.
  2. 2. It measures from 85-110 cm in length. Body is divided into head, trunk and tail.
  3. 3. The color is olive or brown above with yellowish spots and pale yellow below.
  4. 4. Body is enclosed in a rigid shell. Carapace flat covered with smooth body Shields.
  5. 5. Plastron join with carapace by ligament.
  6. 6. Dorsal Shields are juxtaposed, fitting closely into each other.
  7. 7. Four pairs of costal shields.
  8. 8. Head bears eyes having eyelids and nictitating membrane.
  9. 9. Head short, tail and limbs are retractile inside the carapace.
  10. 10. Chelone is found in the Atlantic, Indian and pacific oceans. But very commonly found in the islands of ascension, west indies and in Bay of Bengal.
