  1. 1. Python is terrestrial found on dry, rocky, sandy places or on trees. They are also aquatic and found in lakes, ponds and swampy places. They feed upon reptiles, birds and mammals like sheep ,goats ,deer ,cows.
  2. 2. Python morulus is commonly called Indian Python or Ajgar.
  3. 3. It is a large ,massive and non poisonous snake. It may reach the maximum length of 10m and is the biggest and thickest snake of India and weighs 125 kg.
  4. 4. The colour is brown above with rhomboid dark grey edged spots on the body and ventral side is grayish with yellow brown spots.
  5. 5. Body scales are in 60-75 smooth rows, the ventrals are distinctly smaller.
  6. 6. Head is distinct from the neck and is covered with symmetrical shields or small scales. Presence of lancet shaped brown mark on head.
  7. 7. Head bears a large mouth, lidless eyes ,and nostrils. Tympanum absent.
  8. 8. The tail is prehensile and short.
  9. 9. Rudiments of appendages in the form of 2 claw spurs are present near the cloaca.
  10. 10. Python morulus is distributed in India and also in Indo-China.
