  1. 1. Taenia solium is commonly found in the intestine of man in places where pork is eaten as food.
  2. 2. Tenia solium is cosmopolitan in distribution.
  3. 3. Tenia solium is commonly known as tapeworm.
  4. 4. Body consists of scolex or head, neck and strobila or body segments.
  5. 5. Scolex is smaller than the head of a pin, about 1mm in diameter. It is the organ, bears 4 suckers and a rostellum which has a double circuit of hooks about 28 to 32 in number.
  6. 6.Behind the scolex is a thin unsegmented neck.
  7. 7. Strobila or body consists of a large number of segments about 800 or more in number. Each segment is termed a proglottid.
  8. 8.Each proglottid consists a set of male and female reproductive organs, a part of excretory and nervous system and a lateral genital opening.
  9. 9.Lifecycle is complicated and involves an intermediate host, pig.
  10. 10.Pig is infected by bladder worms after eating contaminated human feces.
