  1. 1.Chaetopterus is commonly known as paddle worm.
  2. 2. It is tuberculous, lives in parchment like you shaped tubes open at both the ends embedded in the mud encrusted with sand and debris.
  3. 3. It is usually 15 to 35 centimeters in length.
  4. 4.The body is divisible into three distinct regions, anterior, middle and posterior regions.
  5. 5. The anterior region is flat and bears usually nine pairs of simple parapodia which are largely expanded notopodia,a small prostomium and funnel shaped peristomial collar with a pair of peristomial cirri and mouth
  6. 6.Posterior region comprises 30 similar segments which are devoid of setae.
  7. 7. Mouth is wide and funnel shaped.
  8. 8. Food comprises mainly small organisms which are carried in by the currents of water set up by fans it is a true filter feeder.
  9. 9. Chaetopterus is highly phosphorescent emits blue-green light.
  10. 10. Reproduction is usually asexual and by transverse fission.
