  1. 1.The body of sycon is slender, vase shaped cylinder measuring about 20-30mm in length and 5-6mm in diameter.
  2. 2.Each cylinder bulges in the middle and opens to the exterior by an Osculum.
  3. 3.The osculum is encircled by a fringe of large giant monaxon spicules.
  4. 4.The surface of the body is perforated by numerous pores,the ostia or incurrent poles.
  5. 5.The body wall consists of an outer dermal epithelium and an inner flattened epithelium which lines the spongocoel.
  6. 6.The choanocytes or flagellated cells are restricted only to the radial canals.
  7. 7.Skeleton comprises calcareous spicules of monaxon,triaxon,and tetraxon type.
  8. 8.Canal system syconoid type.Water enters the body by ostia and pass into the radial canals by prosopyles.
  9. 9.Nutrition,respiration and excretion are performed by the canal system.
  10. 10.Reproduction both asexual and sexual.Asexual by budding and regeneration and sexual by ova and sperms.
