1.Exocoetus is a marine pelagic fish living in shoals and feeding on prawns,young fishes and their eggs.
2.Exocoetus is commonly known as flying fish .
3.Body is moderately elongated , somewhat compressed and covered with overlapping cycloid scales .It measures 30-45 cm in length .
4.The colour is bluish and silvery below . Pectoral fins have black spots .
5. Head has largest eyes, wide mouth and both jaws bear feet .
6. Pectoral fins are enormously elongated to form wing-like structures. They serve as parachute to sustain the fish in its gliding leaps . pectoral fins bears black spots .
7. Dorsal fins and anal fins are short and supported by tail fin is large .
8.Tail is hypobatic, ventral lobe of the tail fin is large .
9. Air bladder is present .
10. It is considered as good edible fish and provide fishery in certain seasons .
