  1. 1. Arius is a marine fish.
  2. 2. Body of Arius is elongated and scaleless.
  3. 3. Head is osseus and covered with very thin skin.
  4. 4. Head with eyes with free orbital margins, mouth is wide, upper jaw generally longer. Barbles six (two maxillary and four mandibular).
  5. 5. First dorsal fin bears a serrated spine. Second dorsal fin is adipose. Caudal fin forked.
  6. 6. Pectoral fin with strong serrated spine.
  7. 7. Gill -openings are wide, covered with operculum.
  8. 8. Air-bladder is long and longitudinally divided and connected with the gut.
  9. 9. It is used as food of inferior quality.
  10. 10. Arius is found in the seas of tropical countries.
