  1. 1. Commonly known as Midwife toad.
  2. 2. Body measures 5 to 8 cm in length and is divided into head and trunk
  3. 3. Body surface is warty and grey, brown, green or red coloured.
  4. 4. Head contains large tympanum and protuberant eyes.
  5. 5. Tongue is in the form of rounded non protrusible disc.
  6. 6. Males are without vocal sacs.
  7. 7. Larva contains a median spiracle.
  8. 8. Upper jaw toothed, and transverse process of sacral vertebrae dilated. Vertebrae opisthocoelous. Adults have ribs.
  9. 9. Fertilisation and egg deposition external.
